Marlys Newton 10/09/2026

Marlys M. Newton age 92 of Baldwin passed away Friday, October 9, 2026, at the Baldwin Care Center.  She was born on March 26, 1934, to Hermann and Ragna (Lund) Anderson in Baldwin, WI.  She grew up in Baldwin attending East Baldwin Country School and graduating from Baldwin High School in 1952.  On June 16, 1956, Marlys married the love of her life Earl Newton.  This union would be blessed with two sons and 56 years of marriage.  Together they ran Newton Trucking, and enjoyed trips to Waverly, IA and Spring Green, WI each year.  Dancing was a favorite from the day they met and was clear to all the way they floated across the dance floor.

Marlys was a kind, loving woman with a quick wit and her giggle was one-of-a-kind.  She had a green thumb and spent many hours planting and caring for her flower gardens and landscape around her two houses.  Everyone who drove by enjoyed her beautiful flowers.  Her favorite past-time was shopping.  She didn’t miss a chance to go to a craft sale, antique shop or going out to eat.  She loved decorating her home for every holiday and all four seasons.  Each room in her home was decorated with her many purchases.  Always up at the crack of dawn, she was often in her kitchen preparing delicious meals and baking her sweet treats for all to enjoy.  Her chocolate chip cookies were the favorite.

Family and friends were very important to Marlys, but her pride and joy were her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She loved going to all their events and especially when they came to visit.

She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.  We are extremely grateful for the care and support from the Baldwin Care Center and the staff.

Survived by sons Kevin (Peggy) and Terry (Lori).  Grandchildren Brodie and Ty, Nick (Kennedy), Jaden and McKenna.  Great grandchildren Crew and Olive.  Brother-in-law Duane Newton.  Many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Preceded in death by husband Earl, parents Hermann and Ragna Anderson and in-laws Arnold and Gladys Newton.  Siblings Vernon (Marion) Anderson, Galen (Millie) Anderson, June (Lewis) Geurkink. Brothers-in-law and sister-in-law Verlyn (Inez) Newton, John (Judy) Newton and Delores (Don) Lind.

A memorial service for Marlys has been planned for Friday, October 23, 2026, at Gethsemane Lutheran Church (1350 Florence St) Baldwin, Wisconsin at 12:00PM.  Visitation is also be at the church on Friday the 23rd, and will begin at 10:00AM.  Burial will immediately follow at Baldwin Cemetery.
