Evelyn Lucille Berends, age 90, peacefully passed away Friday, February 6, 2026, at Westfield Hospital with her family by her side.
Evie was born on July 12, 1935, to George and Anna Swanson in Clear Lake, Wisconsin. Evie was a 1953 graduate of Clear Lake High School. On September 19, 1953, she was united in marriage to Francis “Slim” Berends at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Amery, Wisconsin.
Evie was a dedicated mother and valued being a stay at home mom and raising her four sons. She loved having company and visiting with anyone that would stop by the house. She enjoyed watching the Brewers baseball games, playing cards and especially a good game of cribbage, and her faith was at the center of her life. She adored cooking for family and friends and all her grandchildren will always remember her homemade buns.
Evie is survived by her sons, Greg (Laura), Brad (LeAnn) and Mike (Mary); grandchildren, Ryan (Carol) Berends, Kelly (Eric) Kramer, Johanna Berends, Robin (Austin) Nyberg, Beth (Jessie) Berends, Mike (Ricki) Mondor, Ryan Mondor and Andy Mondor; and 13 great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, George and Anna; her husband, Francis “Slim”; her son, Jeff “Tate”; and her siblings, Margaret, Marie, Buddy, Norman, Kenny, Anna Mae and Mildred.
Mass Of Christian Burial for Evie will be held on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at 12:00PM at Immaculate Conception Church (151 S. Washington Ave) New Richmond, Wisconsin, with visitation starting at 11:00AM. Evie’s service will be live streamed using the link below. Interment will be in Immaculate Conception Cemetery. Arrangements are with Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services.
