Ernest L. “Ernie” Anderson age 85 of New Richmond died peacefully on Saturday, August 13, 2011 at Westfield’s Hospital in New Richmond. Ernie was born the son of John and Emelia Anderson on April 6, 1926 in Cushing, MN. He grew up in Cushing and Minneapolis, MN graduating from Roosevelt High School in Minneapolis with the class of 1944. He served in the Army during WWII. On June 21, 1947 Ernie was married to Irene Swanson in St. Paul, MN. He worked for the Chicago Northwestern Railroad Company for 40 years. He loved to bowl, and is in the New Richmond Bowlers Hall of Fame. Ernie was a member of the Hudson and New Richmond VFW and the Somerset American Legion Post 111. He enjoyed sports of all kinds, especially when his kids and grandkids were playing. He also enjoyed fishing, camping, traveling, and old time music. Ernie was strong willed, structured and dependable. He was always very competitive and could fix anything. He is preceded in death by his parents; 9 siblings; and son-in-law, Larry Fredrickson. He is survived by his wife, Irene Anderson; children, Bonnie Fredrickson, and Wayne Anderson; grandchildren, Derek (Alicia) Anderson, Barbara (Michael) Gaede, Steven (Arianne) Fredrickson, Stuart Anderson, Stephanie Anderson, and John Anderson; great-grandchildren, Allison and Tanner Gaede and Claire, Rece, and Ellie Anderson; sister, Florence Nicponski of Apple Valley, CA; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. A funeral service was held Tuesday, August 16, 2011 at 11:00 am at First Lutheran Church in New Richmond. Visitation was also on Tuesday from 10:00-11:00 am at the church. Interment was in New Richmond Cemetery. Arrangements are with Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services of New Richmond.
