Elizabeth “Betsy” Kusilek, age 77 of River Falls, WI, passed away March 8th, 2023. Betsy was born on September 10th, 1945 in Hudson, WI. She graduated from Hudson High School in 1963. In her early years she worked at 3M. On January 15th, 1977 she married Vernon Kusilek. Betsy was most proud of being a wife and mother and it was one of her greatest accomplishments. She enjoyed crafting and took great pride in her annual craft sale that was held at her home. Betsy enjoyed socializing with friends and a good spin around the dance floor. She and Vern enjoyed traveling as they got older and one of their favorite trips was an Alaskan adventure with Vern’s siblings. Betsy took great pride in her home and loved making sure it was decorated perfectly and everything was in its place. Dinner was always something to get excited about as Betsy loved to cook. Her favorite holiday was Christmas and you always felt the magic when you walked in her door. As her children got older they blessed her with her treasured grandchildren. She cherished her time with them as much as they cherished their time with Grandma. She is preceded in death by her mother, Eileen Larson; father, James Randall; sisters Kathy Volz and Maggie Lopez; Father-in-law and Mother-in-law, Edwin and Loretta Kusilek; brother-in-law, Gerald Kusilek and his wife Bonnie. She is survived by her loving husband, Vernon; her children, Craig (Ellen) Kusilek and Amy (Mike) Cowles as well as Tom (Kim) Kusilek, Jon Kusilek and daughter-in-law, Angela Kusilek. Grandchildren; Carter and Payten Kusilek; Cooper, Etta and Sullivan Cowles; Daniell and Ryan (Mackenzie Vaclav) Kusilek; Miranda (Nate) Green and Casey (Alyssa) Kusilek. Great-Grandchildren, Nolan and Milo Green; sisters Judi (Stan) Cina and Pat (Rex) DeSmith; brother-in-law Norman (Natalie) Kusilek; sister-in-laws Doris (Dave) Trebus; Diane (Junior) Johnson; Marilyn (Jerome) Maier and many other relatives and friends. Mass of Christian Burial was on Wednesday, March 15, 2023 at 12 noon at St. Bridget Catholic Church 211 E Division St, River Falls, WI and streamed live through the link just below this obituary. Visitation was also on Wednesday from 10 am – 12 noon at the church. Interment was in St. Bridget Catholic Cemetery. Arrangements are with Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremations Services.

When we moved to River Falls in 2006, Betsy and Vern were the first couple we got to know and become friends with. We couldn’t have been more lucky. They were our bowling partners for a number of years. Betsy was the secretary of our league and she did a super job of keeping our league well organized. We had many good times with Betsy and Vern. We will miss Betsy and we wish the Kusilek family our deepest condolences during this difficult time.
