Edward Rivard 06/12/2023

Edward J. “Ed” Rivard, Sr. age 74 of Star Prairie, WI passed away Monday, June 12, 2023 at Regions Hospital in St. Paul, MN.  He was born one of nine children to Alvin and Johnora Rivard on November 13, 1948 in New Richmond, WI.  Ed was drafted in February 1969 and served his country in the US Army in the Vietnam War.  The week before he left, he married Peggy Lea Zahnow.  Ed came home 2 years later, and met his daughter, Michell.  The couple was blessed with two more children, Joe in 1971 and Ryan in 1978.  Ed held various jobs and in the late 1990’s he retired and kept busy by mowing lawns.  He enjoyed the outdoors by hunting, fishing and camping and he loved his dogs.  Ed is preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Johnora; wife, Peggy; sister, Judy; and brother, Mick.  He is survived by his daughter, Michell (Jay Schroeder) Willey; sons, Joe (Mikki) Rivard, Ryan Rivard; grandchildren, Josh (Jessika) Willey and Nicole Willey; great-grandchildren, Emmett Willey, Dixie and Hadley Hanes; sisters, Ann Lange, Louise Martinson, Donna Reyes, Carol Muskus, Kathy Rivard; brother, John Rivard and beloved dog, Natalie.  A visitation was held on Tuesday, June 20, 2023 from 3:00-7:00 pm with military honors at 7:00 pm at Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services (728 S Knowles Ave) in New Richmond.  Military honors were provided by American Legion Post #80 of New Richmond.  Arrangements are with Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services.
