Edgar Bedell 06/30/2011

Edgar “Ted” Bedell, Jr., age 89 of New Richmond, died on Thursday, June 30, 2011 at Deerfield Gables in New Richmond.  Ted was born the son of Edgar and Mary (Biles) Bedell on November 20, 1921 in Anchorage, Alaska.  He grew up in Elma, Washington, graduating from Elma High School where he excelled in sports earning All State Honors in football.  He served his country in the Navy during WWII then attended the College of the Art Institute of Chicago on the GI Bill.  He met and later married Jane Stuntz while at the Art Institute.  The couple lived in a number of different places, raising four wonderful women, and enjoying art together.  Ted owned and operated a silk screen sign shop that he started in 1952 in Minneapolis and closed and retired from in St. Paul in 1986.  He then attended sign painting classes with his daughter Julie and in 1991, open Deronda Art and Sign Painting.  He finally retired in 2000.  In 2007, Jane and Ted moved into the Deerfield Gables.  Ted enjoyed sports, art, and fishing.  He was an easy going guy with a big heart.  He is preceded in death by his parents, Edgar and Mary Bedell; wife, Jane Bedell; and sister, Molly Alexander.  Ted is survived by his children, Julia (John) Martin, Karen (Dave) Peterson, Bernadette Bedell, Marie (Don) Olson; 10 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; and nieces and nephews.  A Memorial Gathering was held on Sunday, July 10, 2011 from 1-3 pm at Bakken-Young’s Beebe Mortuary in New Richmond.  Interment was in the New Richmond Cemetery.  Arrangements are with Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services of New Richmond.
