DuWayne Joseph Larson, age 75 of Star Prairie, WI, passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, March 27, 2018. DuWayne was born the son of Henry and Minnie (Cook) Larson on July 20, 1942 in the town of Alden, Polk County, Wisconsin. He attended school in Star Prairie and graduated from New Richmond High School with the class of 1960. As a senior in high school, DuWayne met the love of his life, Sylvina “Susie” Pederson. They were married on November 19, 1960 at First Lutheran Church in New Richmond. DuWayne attended Dunwoody Institute and became a machinist. In retirement, he became the Superintendent of the Clear Lake Golf Club. DuWayne enjoyed sports, he played fast-pitch softball, golf, and raced snowmobiles. He was a huge Packer fan, avid hunter, liked playing cards, restoring his Allis Chalmers tractor and spending time with his family. DuWayne was hard working, strong willed man with a great sense of humor. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather who was proud of his family. DuWayne was an excellent role model and welcomed many friends into his life and family. He is preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Minnie Larson; sister, Sandra (Walter) Grevich and their unborn child; and nephew, Brent Measner. DuWayne is survived by his wife of 57 years, Susie Larson; daughters, Sherry (Scott) Kittel, Shelly (Craig) Matthys, and Lynnette Larson; grandchildren, Lindsay (Dave), Benjamin, Bailey, Megan (Greg), Jake (Megan), Amanda (Chad); great-grandchildren, Jacey, Maddie, Brayden, and baby girl (due in June); his beloved cat Gizmo; sisters, Judy (Allen) Measner, and Linda (Dennis) Skifstad; and many nieces, nephews, and family. A Memorial Service was held on Saturday, March 31, 2018 at 11 am at Bethany Lutheran Church 415 Bridge Avenue Star Prairie, WI. Visitation was also on Saturday from 9-11 am at the church. Arrangements are with Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services Beebe Chapel of New Richmond, WI.

I remember living next door to the Larson’s back in Star Prairie.
