Somerset, Wisconsin

Duane Dale LeMire, age 87, of Somerset, WI peacefully passed on to eternal life on July 7 at his home surrounded by his family. Duane was born one of nine children to Rose (Campeau) and Gasper LeMire in the brick house on Church Hill Road in Somerset. He graduated from Somerset High School in 1947 and worked with his Dad on the farm. While in High School he worked for his brother Maurice in his restaurant and earned enough money to buy a Harley Davidson motorcycle and a Aeronca Champ airplane. In 1951 he was drafted into the Army where he served as a cook in Huntsville, Alabama. After his service in the Army he returned to Somerset and met Marlyn Grun.

They were married on a beautiful fall day in October in 1954. They built a house in the “back 40” where they raised their seven children. Duane worked for the Burlington Northern Railroad for 35 years. He also worked for Somerset Township in the road maintenance department. When Duane retired, he and Marlyn enjoyed fishing, going to the casino and entertaining their grandchildren. Duane always dreamed of building a retirement home in the “middle 40” and he was able to do that in 1994. He spent the last years of his life with Marlyn surrounded by beautiful pine trees, wild flowers, birds and other wild life, along with their beagles. All of which he loved and cared for. Duane was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Susan Martha, his parents Rose and Gasper LeMire, his brothers Edward, Andy, Maurice and Ben, his sisters, Ella, Doris and BettyAnn. Duane is survived by his wife, Marlyn, who cared for him for 61 years. He is also survived by his sister, Sister Irene LeMire, his seven children, Cindi (Lee), Jeanne (Scott), Tom (Kelly), John (Kim), Steve (Jennifer), Ruth (Dan) and Rosie (Ron).

From heaven Duane is watching over his seventeen grandchildren, Melinda, Roxane, Jesse, Randy, Rachel, Billy, JeNae, Parker, Stephanie, LeAnna, Ben, Anders, Dustin, Anna, Emmanuel, Sophia, and Francois. Mass of Christian Burial is Monday, July 11, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Anne’s Catholic Church, 141 Church Hill Road. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Pallbearers are his grandsons, Jesse Lene, Randy Lene, Billy Adams, Parker LeMire, Dustin Lee, Emmanual Uzoh, Ben LeMire, Anders LeMire and Francois LeMire.
