Dorothy (Dottie) M. Strand of New Richmond, WI passed away on August 7, 2015 at the Deerfield Assisted Living Facility. She was 95 years old. Dorothy was born to Joe & Amelia Simon in Boardman WI on November 16, 1919. She graduated from the St. Joseph Academy in Crookston, MN on May 31, 1938 and then went and obtained her Cosmetology License at the Lee School of Beauty Culture in St Paul, MN. She worked and lived in St Paul for a couple of years and then returned to Boardman WI and married Tom Strand on August 28, 1941. Tom and Dorothy had two children, Neal & Tami. Dorothy worked for many years in the kitchen at the New Richmond Sr. High School. She loved to play bridge, garden and cook. She spent many hours tending her flower garden which was enjoyed by everyone in the neighborhood. She also was very active as a volunteer for the Immaculate Conception Church in New Richmond, WI. Dottie was a great Mom and will be forever missed. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, mother & father & sister, Irene Benner. She is survived by her son, Neal (Janet) Stand of New Richmond, WI; daughter, Tami (Warren Nelson) of Annandale; three grandchildren, Scott (Nancy) Strand, Paula (Nader) Barjesteh, Corey (Mara Milne) Strand; and seven great grandchildren. Mass of Christian Burial 11 AM Monday August 10, 2015 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in New Richmond, WI. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment Parish Cemetery.
