Dorothy Cudd 02/26/2017

PTDC0006Dorothy E. Cudd age 89 of River Falls passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 26, 2017 at her home.  She was born the daughter of Herold and Lena Teresa (Shannon) Gipford on December 6, 1927 in Pierce County, WI.  Dorothy graduated from Ellsworth High School in 1946, and worked at the bakery in Ellsworth, before moving to River Falls with her sister, Doris.  She met her future husband, John Cudd III at a dance hall in Bay City, they married in 1948.  Dorothy was an avid reader and enjoyed watching the birds and flowers from her window.  She was talented at crocheting, needlework and cross-stitching.  She filled her home with beautiful work and made many special gifts for her family over the years.  When the children were young, there was always annual family trip.  During retirement, she and John enjoyed traveling in their RV to many states.  Dorothy was a long-time member at Ezekiel Lutheran Church.  She loved being Grandma and always remembered everyone’s birthday with a phone call or a card.  She is survived by her children, Doug (Kathy), Jack (Rita), David (Rebecca) and Cathy O’Connell; grandchildren, Stacy (Conrad) Ertz, Jesse (Kathleen) Cudd, Nick (Sarah) Cudd, Brady (Brandy) Cudd, Patrick O’Connell, Collin Cudd and Logan Cudd; great-grandchildren, Mikayla, Jesse Jr., Jackson, Kaitlyn, Quinn, Addison, Caden, Peyton, Sam, Talen, Chloe, Sydney and Emma; brothers, Bud Gipford and Herold “Junior” (Janice) Gipford; sister, Doris (Donny) Denzer; brother-in-law, Dick Jablonski.  Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Herold and Lena Gipford; step-mother, Florence Gipford; husband, John Cudd III; grandson, Christopher Cudd; sister, Bette Jablonski; and sister-in-law, Shirley Gipford.  A memorial service was held Thursday, March 2, 2017 at 12:00 noon at Ezekiel Lutheran Church in River Falls.  Visitation was also held on Thursday from 10-12 noon at Ezekiel Lutheran Church.  Interment was Greenwood Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Ezekiel Lutheran Church.  Arrangements are with Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services of River Falls.  Dearest Mom, we all love you heart and soul and will miss you every day.

    Kent and I am so very sorry for your loss. We just heard the news of her passing and are sorry we missed the services. She was a very sweet and tender person and I know she will be missed by many. You all can be proud of the fact that your parents raised a very good family and left a legacy for you to carry on. They are smiling down on all of you now. God Bless!!
