Doris Miller 03/11/2014

Doris I. Miller 94, of Star Prairie, WI passed away March 11, 2014.  Doris was born March 1^st, 1920 in New Sweden, Minnesota to Clarence and Marie Holmquist.  When she was eight years old she and her family moved to Wisconsin.  Doris graduated from New Richmond High School in 1940.  On January 15, 1944, she married Ray Miller in Stillwater, MN.  They bought a farm near Star Prairie, WI and farmed until 1973 when Ray retired.  To this union four children were born Judy, Larry, Garry and Duane. Doris had several jobs which included working for Ringers Clothing Factory, Doboy Plastics, Gambles and Shultz’s Dime Store in New Richmond. She was also a member of the Ladies Aid at Bethany Lutheran Church and was 4-H leader for Wagon Landing for many years.  After Ray’s retirement they moved to their home on the Apple River where they lived until a few years ago when she moved to the Willow Ridge Nursing Home in Amery, WI.  Ray and Doris enjoyed the many trips that they took which included Florida, Hawaii, Canada, Spain, Africa and many other areas of the U.S.  Doris was a very devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who loved spending time with her family.   Doris was preceded in death by her husband Ray, her parents, son Larry, brother Clinton, and sisters Ethel, Evangeline and Ruth.  She is survived by daughter Judy (Gary) Holmes of Cottage Grove, MN, sons Garry (Sue) of Osceola, WI, Duane of Arcadia, WI, grandsons Jon (Karla) Holmes, Paul (Tina) Holmes, Matt (Becky) Miller, Kyle (Julia) Miller, Nathan (Alice) Miller, Josh Miller, Travis (Holly) Krueger, granddaughter Jennifer Knutson, great-grandchildren Ben and Luke Holmes, Evan Knutson,  Tyler and Charlie Miller, Brooklyn and Arianna Miller, Ella Krueger, step-great-grandchildren Juliann and Hailie Jeska, along with many nieces and nephews.  Funeral services were held Saturday, March 15, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Bethany Lutheran Church in Star Prairie, WI.  Visitation was 1 hour prior to the service (10:00 – 11:00 a.m.) interment was in New Richmond Cemetery with Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services Beebe Chapel of New Richmond in charge of arrangements.
