Doris Erler 03/09/2021

Doris (Sullwold) Erler, age 103, of New Richmond passed away on Tuesday, March 9, 2021 at the Deerfield Gables.  She was born the daughter to Axel and Hannah (Johnson) Danielson on January 9, 1918 at Big Carnelian Lake Stillwater, Minnesota.  Doris graduated from Stillwater High School and married Alfred Sullwold, to this union they were blessed with 3 sons.  She spent many years working at Consolidated/Interstate Lumber in Stillwater.  In 1955, the couple moved to a farm near Roberts, WI.  Alfred died in 1961, Doris was just 45 years old.  In 1969, Doris married Don Erler.  They had many happy years together, including nearly 30 years of winters spent in south Texas.  Doris was a charter member of Cross Lutheran Church in Roberts and a long-time member of the Nike Neighbors Homemakers Club.  She enjoyed crocheting afghans, cross stitch, and exhibiting at the St. Croix County Fair.  Doris is survived by her sons, Richard “Dick” (Gayle) Sullwold, Stan Sullwold, Thomas (Fran) Sullwold; step-sons, Don (Cindy) Erler, Jr. and Warren (Pat) Erler; grandchildren, Patti (Mark) Salmon, Dan (Julie Hillman) Sullwold, Wayne (Patty) Sullwold, Richard (Robbin) Riker, Catherine (Ray) Van Allen, Eileen (Michael Salchert) Youngren, Stanley (Corinna) Sullwold, Jr; Janell (Douglas) Bakken, Cheryl (Ron) Cormican, Pam (Carlos) Varela; bonus grandchildren, Stephanie Heinbuch, Greg (Amity) Heinbuch; and 3 step-grandchildren, Daniel, Matt and Robyn; 36 great-grandchildren; 31 great-great-grandchildren; other relatives and cherished friends.  She is preceded in death by her parents, Axel and Hannah Danielson; husbands, Alfred Sullwold and Don Erler; sister, Helen (Alden) Josephson; daughters-in-law, Nona Sullwold and Terry Sullwold.  A funeral service was held on Saturday, March 13, 2021 at 11:00 am at Cross Lutheran Church (1246 County Road TT) in Roberts.  A visitation was also on Saturday from 9:30-11:00 am at the church.  The funeral service was streamed live via a link found at the bottom of the obituary.  Interment was in Marine on St. Croix Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorials were preferred. Arrangements are with Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services.

    Greetings to the Sullwold Families!~
    Deepest Sympathy to all of your in the love of your Lovely Mother / Grand-Great Grandmother, Doris. Wow!~ She lived to be 103! What a wonderful gal. Faith, Family, and Friends! I believe those were her loves and focus. We had the privilege of knowing Doris as a neighbor next to our Weiss family farm. — I just finished watching the video. What a wonderful tribute. — It was esp. fun to see the big picture of Tom’s girl’s and their families. Special greetings to Tom, Jan, Cheryl, and PJ. — Lots of Love, Becky (Weiss) & Scott Butler 🙂 🙂
