Donald Pearson 04/20/2019

Donald L. Pearson, of River Falls, age 90 passed away on Saturday, April 20, 2019 at the Kinnic Rehab & Care Center. He was born the son of Newton and Edith (Clausen) Pearson on September 30, 1928 in Mann Valley, River Falls, WI. He attended Mann Valley grade school and then graduated from Prescott High School. Don was the first chair slide trombonist in the high school band. In 1951 Don was inducted in the U.S. Army. He was discharged in 1953. On September 25, 1954, he was married to Evelyn Skog, Ellsworth, WI. To this union, they were blessed with a son, Scott Donald, and a daughter, Stacee Leigh. In Don’s early years he operated large road construction equipment in various Wisconsin areas, building highways. Don was very mechanically inclined. He then owned Fall’s Lawn & Sport, a small engine repair shop and sold snowmobiles, motorcycles and lawn care equipment.  After retirement, Don and Evie lived in Colorado Springs, CO, and McAllen, Texas and will be remembered for helping people in need in various ways for over 20 years. Don is survived by his wife, Evelyn; son, Scott (Mary); daughter, Stacee Holloway; and two grandsons, Cory and Kellen Pearson; sister, Joan Bystrom and Carol (Marlin) Krear; brother, John (Sharon) and a host of beloved nieces and nephews. Don is preceded in death by his parents, Newton and Edith Pearson; brother, Charles Pearson; sister-in-law, Donna Pearson; brothers-in-law, Gaylord Bystrom and Richard Swanson. Nephews, Larry and Douglas Bystrom, and Mark Swanson. Memorials may be directed to the family. A Memorial Service was held Saturday, April 27, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services (805 E Division Street, River Falls, WI 54022) with a visitation starting at 11:00a.m. Military Honors will be performed by the American Legion Post 121 of River Falls. Interment will be held at a later date in Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, MN. Arrangements are with Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services.
