Donald F. Madsen, age 90 of New Richmond, formerly of River Falls, passed away on Sunday, February 5, 2017 at The Deerfield Gables Care Center. He was born the son of Harry and Laura (Buckner) Madsen on May 2, 1926 in Elmwood, WI. He graduated from River Falls High School, served in the Army Air Corps during WWII, and had a long career with the U.S. Postal Service in River Falls. He was a member of the River Falls American Legion and a founding member of the Star Prairie Fish and Game. Donald was united in marriage to Bernice Peterson on June 30, 1946. She preceded him in death in 2013. He is survived by his son, Duane (Vicky) Madsen; his granddaughter, Stacia (Jayson) Westbrook; his great-grandchildren, Courtney and Blake Westbrook; and his sister, Dorothy Fraser. A memorial service was held Saturday, February 11, 2017 at 1:30 pm at Bakken-Young Beebe Chapel (112 W 3rd St.) in New Richmond. Visitation was also Saturday from 12:00-1:30 pm at the funeral home. A private interment will be at the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spooner, WI. Arrangements are with Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services Beebe Chapel of New Richmond.
