Dennis Taylor 05/27/2024

Dennis Morris Taylor, age 77, died peacefully on Monday, May 27, 2024 at his home in Frederic. He was born on May 17, 1947 to parents, Marylis (Chouinard) and Eugene Taylor in Ogilvie, MN. Dennis grew up in International Falls, MN graduating from Johnson High School in Saint Paul, MN. He joined the Navy immediately following graduation serving as a torpedoman on the USS Harder. After serving in the Navy, went to school to be a gunsmith. Dennis worked as a truck driver for over 20 years with Cemstone retiring in 2004. Following retirement, he moved to his farm in Big Fork, MN where he enjoyed his land and animals (goats and unbreakable mules).
Dennis loved gardening, fishing, hunting, and in his later years enjoyed reading and church fellowship. Dennis was loving and genuine with a gentle heart.
He is preceded in death by parents, Marylis and Eugene. Dennis is survived by wife, Marilyn Matthys; daughter, Nicole (Josh) Peterson; stepchildren, Tony (Amy), Gordon (Dana) Carney, Mark (Linda) Matthys, Janet (Steve) Praschak, Sean Matthys; Nicole’s children, Taylor and Megan Beuthien; Tony’s children, Michael, Shelby, and Alec; Gordon’s children, Brandon, Jordon, and Danielle Carney; Janet’s sons, Aaron and Alex Praschak; sister, Tammy (Roger) Larson; and many other relatives and friends.
A Memorial Service was held on Monday, June 3, 2024 at 11:00AM at Bethany Lutheran Church (415 Bridge Avenue Star Prairie, WI 54026) with a visitation one hour prior to the service. Private family interment was in Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spooner, WI. Arrangements are with Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services.
