Dennis Cosgrove 04/12/2013

Dennis Robert Cosgrove, age 57, died unexpectedly at his home in rural Spring Valley on Friday, April 12, 2013.  Dennis was born November 8, 1955, the son of Virginia (Gilbert) Ferris and Arthur Cosgrove.  He graduated from Chelsea High School in Chelsea, MI and received his bachelor’s degree and doctorate in agronomy from Michigan State University.  He moved to the River Falls area in 1988 and began work in the College of Agriculture (now the College of Agriculture, Food and Environmental Sciences) at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls.  He was also an Agronomist with UW Extention.  He was an avid fiddle player, and loved bluegrass music, fishing, hunting and country life.  He is survived by his wife, Alicia Acken Cosgrove; sons, Colin, Kyle and Kenny Cosgrove.  He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother Terry Ferris, his uncle Robert Gilbert, his aunt Audrey Gilbert Eisele, and his grandparents, Henry and Pearl Gilbert.  Visitation was held Tuesday, April 16, 2013 from 4:00-8:00 pm at Bakken-Young Funeral Home in River Falls.  A bluegrass jam session/visitation wias held Wednesday, April 17, 2013 from 1:00-4:00 pm at New Centerville Methodist Church in rural Baldwin, followed by a service for close friends and family at the church.  Memorials are preferred to the In Honor of Dennis Cosgrove Fund c/o Fist National Bank of River Falls P.O. Box 166 River Falls, WI 54022.  Arrangements are with Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services of River Falls.
