Dennis A. Johnson 09/26/2018

Dennis Alan Johnson, age 69, died on September 26, 2018, at the Kinnic Health & Rehab Center in River Falls. He was born on December 5, 1948 to Donald Nels Johnson and Evelyn Christine (Dusek) Johnson at the River Falls Hospital. Dennis went to school at St. Bridget’s thru the 8th grade and graduated from River Falls High School in 1967. Dennis attended UWRF earning a BS degree in Psychology and Political Science in 1972. He worked at Hastings State Hospital, Director at Pierce County ARC, Burkwood, and REM (assisted living for developmentally disabled adults). Dennis helped with many Special Olympics events. He loved the Kinni, playing cards and especially fishing. Dennis was a big fan of all Wisconsin sports teams – Packers, Brewers, Badgers and Bucks. He enjoyed staying at the south shore of Lake Superior at Cornucopia, WI, each summer exploring waterfalls, fishing, and relaxing. Dennis was a charter member and treasurer of the 12 x 12 Group and past board member of the River Falls Alano Society. In retirement, Dennis helped with Tuesday Banquet and Soup Suppers at St. Bridget’s. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Gerry; grandparents, Gotreem and Theresa Dusek; Nels and Mae Johnson; in-laws, Norbert and Louise St. Germain. Dennis is survived by his wife, Carolyn “Carol” (St. Germain) Johnson; brothers, Duane (Marina) Johnson of River Falls and Lloyd (Marlys) Johnson of Hudson; nieces and nephews, Jeffrey (Kathy) Johnson, Jarvis Madlung, Jason (Ann) Madlung, Tania (Mike) Gardner; great nieces and nephews, Lucas, Jayda, Kelsey Johnson, Sarah Madlung, Nathan, Katie, Sophia, Adam Madlung, Sydney Gardner; many nieces, nephews, cousins and host of AA friends. A Mass of Christian Burial was held Monday, October 1, 2018 at 11:00 am at St. Bridget Catholic Church (211 E Division St.) in River Falls. Visitation was held Sunday, September 30, 2018 from 3-6 pm at St. Bridget and on Monday from 10-11 am before the service. Interment was in St. Bridget Catholic Cemetery. Arrangements are with Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services of River Falls.
