David Norris 04/07/2023

David Phillips Norris was born August 16, 1983, in Fairfax, Virginia. He passed away at the age of 39 on April 7, 2023.
David grew up in Sterling, VA and attended Potomac Falls High School and graduated in the class of 2002.
After high school, David became a Master Corporal in the French Foreign Legion (Légion é‏‏trangère) from 2003 until 2012. He was based out of Saint-Christol, Provence-Alpes – Côte d’Azur, France. He did tours in Djihouti, Ivory Coast and Afghanistan.
During his service in the French Foreign Legion, he met his future wife, Kimberly Waller, in Marseille, France in 2011. He was joined in marriage to Kimberly on May 20, 2015, at Château de la Barben, in the south of France, near where they met.
David returned to the United States to continue his studies at Winona State University in Winona, Minnesota. He graduated with a degree in Medical Laboratory Science. After graduation, David worked for Allina Microbiology Reference Laboratory from 2018-present. He was a member of the American Society of Clinical Pathology.
After returning to the United States, David was a 68W Medic in the United States Army Reserves from 2013-2019.
He will be remembered for his love of “philosophizing”. His knowledge of world affairs made for hours of great conversations with all that knew him. David loved the outdoors and traveling the world. He always put up with his wife’s crazy vacation plans.
David had a true heart of gold, who always put others before himself, who cared about the greater good, and was constantly in the search for the “truth”. David’s desire was to protect the weak and stand up to injustice. He had an innate sense of knowing what people needed, be it a warm meal or simply someone to talk to so they felt seen. A fundraiser has been set up in his honor at Global Giving Ukraine Crisis Relief Fund: https://goto.gg/f/46507.
David is survived by his wife, Kimberly (Waller) Norris; his parents, Robert and Barbara Norris; and his sister, Christina and Kevin Hancock and their children, Sydney, Brady, Asher, and Jada. Also by his father and mother in law, Jerry and Becky Waller, his brothers and sisters in law, Aaron and Kayla Waller and their children Grant and Grace and Jennifer (Waller) and Mathew Nelson and their children Adalynn and Eli.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Milton and Gertrude Norris and Phillips and Anne Webb.
A Celebration of Life was held on Sunday April 23, from 1:00-4:00 PM with memory sharing at 3PM at Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services (805 E Division Street) in River Falls. Arrangements are with Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services.

I am sorry for your loss. I was stationed at Camp MF as a detachment of the Illinois National Guard Infantry. I was lost talking to the French and I heard an American with his Foreign Legion Patch. We became brothers out there, He will not be forgotten, ever! I love you, brother, I have, “Watch,’ now.!Rest Easy!
    Mamba 3 Steadfast and Loyal!
