David Lee Asplund, age 77 of Menomonee Falls, WI, died on Saturday, March 28, 2026 at his home. Dave was born March 15, 1949 in New Richmond, WI to Donald and Ruth Asplund of Star Prairie, WI.
He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant brother, Roy Marion. Also preceding him in death were his Aunt, Marion Holle and Uncle, Warren Olson.
Survived by his 4 children whom he was very proud of: Calie (Dan) Cera, Tanner Asplund, Lindsey Asplund and Aaron (Amanda) Asplund.
He loved becoming a Grandpa to: Taylor Lidwin, Aidan Cera, Brianna Cera, Reese Asplund, Wyatt Asplund, Finley Cera, Carter Asplund, Adrianna Tarantino, Grace Asplund, Lukas Asplund, Mya Asplund and Emmett Asplund. He was a proud Great Grandparent to Bennett Lidwin.
A Funeral Service was held on Friday, April 10, 2026 at 11 am at Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services 728 S Knowles Avenue New Richmond, WI. Visitation was Thursday, April 9, 2026 from 5-7 pm at and on Friday from 10-11 am at the funeral home. Interment was in Oakland Cemetery in Star Prairie, WI. Arrangements are with Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services.

My sympathies to David’s family. His mother Ruth was a cousin to my mother Eva Halvorson. I remember seeing David when we visited Star Praire. He always was smiling and very kind.Im sorry to hear of him passing. I know he was proud of his family.
Our deepest condolences to cousin David’s family. He was a proud father, grandfather, great grandfather and proud son with deep roots in Star Prairie, WI. In his later years David got really into family genealogy and my wife Janet and I helped him build his Ancestry Tree. David tracked down and did personal interviews with dozens of cousins all over the Midwest.
I also have deep roots in Star Prairie and we were double cousins – both on the Asplund and Olson family lines. May his memory be a blessing. Jon W. Halvorson, halvo@comcast.net.
