Dan Belisle of New Richmond passed away unexpectedly on February 14. He was born to Glen and Muriel Belisle of Somerset, WI, on August 29, 1961. He was raised in Somerset, WI, with his five siblings, where he excelled in athletics. His baseball coach said he was the best fielder he’d ever seen. He graduated from Somerset High School in 1979 and went on to attend WITC in New Richmond for Business Administration.
In 1991, he married Christy Krumm. To this union three children were born, Drew, Adam, and Kaitlynn. He lived his life for his family. Dan was the neighborhood dad for all of the outdoor games of basketball, football, baseball, or swimming (and playing sports) in the backyard pool. His love of sports was passed down to his children. As a family, they continued to have weekly football pools, March Madness brackets, and play a game of tennis when they were together. As his family grew to include daughters-in-law, they now enjoyed many game nights around the table. Dan and his family also loved Disney World and all that Florida had to offer and enjoyed many trips there as a family. Dan and Christy continued these trips in retirement.
Dan enjoyed following all Minnesota sports, especially the Vikings and Gophers. He also continued playing sports into adulthood, his latest love being pickleball. He enjoyed many games with the pickleball crew in New Richmond and made many friends through this group.
Dan’s love extended far and wide. His many nieces and nephews all adored him. A niece and nephew spent their first years of daycare with Dan and Christy and Dan became very special to them. They loved to joke around with each other, Dan being the biggest jokester.
His latest, and greatest joy, was becoming a grandpa. Dan was the best grandpa to Bennett, Emma, and new baby Isabel. Bennett and Emma always wanted to play with grandpa and he was more than willing to oblige. He would stop everything to play with them.
Dan retired from Andersen Windows in 2020 after 36 years of service, giving him plenty of time to enjoy life. He loved to spend time with family, visit the grandchildren, and travel with Christy. He also loved watching sports on tv and in-person. You could find Dan working on a jigsaw puzzle, a puzzle book, or a game on the ipad. You could also find him out in the yard doing yard work or laying in the hammock. Wherever Dan was needed, he was there.
Dan was preceded in death by his parents, Glen and Muriel; his sister, Pat Reed; his nephew, Jon McConaughey; his in-laws, Doug and Dory Krumm; and his sister-in-law, Kay Krumm. He is survived by his wife, Christy; his children, Drew (Carolyn), Adam (Brie), and Kaitlynn; his grandchildren, Bennett, Emma, and Isabel; his siblings, Don (Barb) Belisle, Joy McConaughey, Gail (Kevin) Kuehn, and Dale (Lynn) Belisle; his in-laws, Jody Reed, Joan Krumm, Kim (Scott) Sorenson, Jim (Margy) Krumm, and Rick Krumm; and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Visitation for Dan was Tuesday, February 27, 2024 from 4:00-7:00 pm at Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services (728 S Knowles Ave) New Richmond, WI. A memorial service was Wednesday, February 28, 2024 at 11:00 am at First Lutheran Church in New Richmond, with visitation starting at 10:00 am. Interment was in New Richmond Cemetery.
Memorials can be directed to Five Loaves Food & Clothing

It was always a warm experience to see Dan at Pickleball! He seemed so genuinely glad to see you and will really be missed! I am so sorry your family has lost such a great man.
I just can’t believe it, he was so young yet. I worked with Dan at Andersen Windows out on the mitre ram machines, he was so funny, and a little mischievous, I loved his smile. He will be greatly missed.
My first encounters with Dan were watching the joy he displayed supporting his children either on the baseball field or tennis court. These last few years it has been so fun “trash talking”each other on the pickleball court- always a good sport. Prayers to the entire family as those smiles, laughs, and ongoing support is a big loss to all.
Dan was one of those guys who you just felt good whenever you saw him, be it on a pickleball court or at some random store or venue around town. Always hoped we could partner at a pickleball tournament some day. Sympathies to family, and will be missed by so many of us friends.

Kath and I got to know Dan through pickleball. He was such a friendly and happy guy; always smiling. I enjoyed playing doubles pickleball with Dan at Mary Park and Starr, either with him as a partner and against him when he was on the other side of the net. He played his all and was a great competitor! Our thoughts and prayers to Dan’s wife and family.
This is really sad news and shocking. Grew up playing softball against Dan in the younger years as he was quite a athlete, and my Son’s grew up with his kid’s playing ball against each other and Dan alway’s took the time to talk to you and quite the sense of humor. Thought’s and prayers to Christy, Adam and Kaitlyn.
My sympathy to Dan’s family – worked with Dan for some time at Andersen and played pickle ball with him and like all of the other comments- just an all around great gracious guy – always a friendly look and smile – he will be missed!
