Cy Frye 12/22/2014

Cyrel “Cy” E. Frye age 91 of New Richmond passed away Monday, December 22, 2014 at Greeley Golden Living Nursing Home in Stillwater, MN.  He was born the son of Bert and Elizabeth Frye on March 1, 1923 in Minneapolis, MN.  At the age of 18, Cy joined the Navy.  He was a Pearl Harbor survivor aboard the USS Honolulu.  In 1944, Cy married Esther Garaas, to this union the couple was blessed with 7 children.  Cy worked at Minneapolis Moline, Tonka Toys and finally Doboy Packaging.  On April 28, 1978, he married Audrey Astrup in New Richmond, WI.  Cy and Audrey enjoyed camping and traveling south in the winter to Arizona and Texas.  Golfing, woodworking, computers and cards, were many other things Cy enjoyed doing.  He was an active member of the American Legion Post #80 in New Richmond.  Cy will be missed by his wife, Audrey; children, Sheryl Harwood; Linda (Mike) Sager, Laure (Greg) Olson, Rick (Joan) Frye, Tom (Nessa) Frye, Joe (Joanne) Frye, Elizabeth Frye, Keith Goldburg; 14 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 2 great great-grandchildren.  A memorial service was held Monday, December 29, 2014 at 11:00 at First Lutheran Church (218 County Road K) in New Richmond.  Visitation was also Monday from 10-11 am at the church.  Interment was in Oakland Cemetery with military honors performed by American Legion Post #80.   Memorials can be given to the American Legion Post #80 or First Lutheran Church both in New Richmond.
