His smile, laughter, and the way he cared and loved his family and friends was such a special part of who he was. We are grateful for the friendship our sons shared! This unspeakable loss has touched so many of us in a crushing way. We can’t stop thinking about Cody and all of the bright moments we shared with him…but our hearts are heavy from the loss and our minds are filled with questions. We have such great memories of Cody touching Bonnie’s life at the OMS as a student…then coming to my world at the OHS and being together in the hall ways, weight room and football field for 4 awesome years. We were so proud to see him at the Pea Pickin’ Flea Market a few years back…he was hitting the weights hard and looked like an MMA fighter sitting on a stool watching over Cookie’s shoes…he was filled with life and his signature smile was exactly the same as that 12 year old we first met at the OMS. Bonnie always shared how great it was to see Cody come to the OMS Office as a Dad. Always polite and wearing his signature smile as he waited to visit with Jayden. We’re blessed to have shared in Cody’s life and he will always be in our hearts.

Words truly cannot express the impact Cody had on this world. From shock to sadness of this unfortunate situation, I will always cherish the memories and experiences we enjoyed growing up together. From our camp outs, to working with Mr. Cook as young men, fishing together, riding four wheelers, playing sports, lifting weights, and spending our summers together, and mainly knowing we always had each other’s backs. Cody was as genuine as a person as you could ask, and would truly give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. The entire Cook family is in our thoughts and prayers, and you will be dearly missed Cody!

Our hearts are filled with saddens over the loss of such a wonderful young man. Cody brought many smilies to our parents at the flea market for many years . After the passing of our Father Cody was always there to help our Mom and he always had a warm smile and big hug for our mother. We all feel very lucky to gotten to meet Cody and very lucky that he was a kind loving man to our Mom . Our prayers with you all .

I’ll never forget the man you were! You weren’t just a friend, but a brother instead. I am truly grateful to have known you since elementary school. We’ve had many conversations about our kids and you always helped keep my spirits up with words of encouragement when it came to my battles in court for my daughters. The love you gave your kids was unconditional and I admired that about you. You were loyal, caring, and had a heart bigger than this world. You cared for your family and friends and we are so blessed to have had you in our lives. I love you brother, and I’ll miss you everyday. Fly high and ride the sky Cody. Until we meet again brother.

  • Scottie E Ard for ESTHER S. WENTZ Posted July 26, 2019 9:01 pm

Cody was one of my mom’s favorite students when she was the Librarian at the Osceola Middle School. Cody held a very special place in my mom’s life and in her heart she loved him dearly and loved to see him at the sales with his dad Cookie. My mother held all her students dear but Cody was special she was so proud of him for his accomplishments and so very touched by the kindness he always demonstrated. The family of Esther Wentz extends its deepest condolences at this time of such great loss.
