Cletus Belle Isle

Cletus Joseph Belle Isle, age 81, of Somerset, Wisconsin passed away on Wednesday, February 20, 2019 at Good Samaritan in Stillwater, Minnesota. He was born on May 9, 1937 in San Antonio, Texas to Martin and Rose (Benhardt) Belle Isle. Cletus graduated from Edison High School in NE Minneapolis, and then served 3 years in the army, spending most of that time in Germany. He married Ramona Langer on July 1, 1961 and lived in Minneapolis for a short time before building their house north of Somerset where they stayed and made a home he was proud of. Together they had eight children, and he was a very dedicated husband and father. Cletus was a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus, and a long-time member of St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Somerset. Cletus will be remembered most by the many stories of his life that he told with a smile on his face to anyone ready to lend an ear. He held his family very near and dear and took pride in remembering the birthdates and anniversary dates of all of his kids, their spouses, and his grandchildren. Cletus worked many years for the Somerset School District before retiring in 1999. After retirement, he enjoyed keeping a large garden with his wife, volunteering for the church and spending time with all of his family.

Cletus was preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Rose Belle Isle; brothers, Arthur, Vernon, Clinton, and infant Andrew Belle Isle; brothers-in-law, Don Johnson and Jim Ouellette; grandchildren, Ethan Belle Isle and Brittany Behne. Cletus is survived by his beloved wife, Ramona Anne (Langer) Belle Isle; children, Gregory (Denise) Belle Isle of Somerset, Alexander Belle Isle of Somerset, John (Melissa) Belle Isle of Wyoming, MN, Richard (Debbie) Belle Isle of Forest Lake, MN, Thomas (Maria) Belle Isle of Zaragoza, Spain, Lawrence (Despina) Belle Isle of Alexandria, VA, Monica (Glenn) Chiodo of St. Paul, MN, and Matthew (Janel) Belle Isle of Clear Lake, WI; grandchildren, Bethany Belle Isle, Gregory Belle Isle, Cassandra Bartholomy, Nicholas Belle Isle, Meredith Belle Isle, Kwesi Caton, Christa Belle Isle, Zachary Belle Isle, Andrea Belle Isle, Mark Belle Isle, Tatiana Ickler, Kirsten LaBlanc, Chant LaBlanc, Meghann Chiodo, Devon Chiodo and Nathan Chiodo; great grandchildren, Kalianna, Cooper and Miken. Cletus is also survived by his siblings, Jerry (Patricia) Belle Isle, LaVonne (Cedric) Solland, Sharon Johnson, Joan Ouellette, and Rosie (Bob) Ouellette; sister-in-law, Mary Belle Isle, and many, many nieces and nephews, other family and friends. He will be greatly missed by all.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM on Friday March 1, 2019 at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Somerset, Wisconsin. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to Mass at the church. Military honors performed by Somerset American Legion Post 111.
