Claudia Leier 05/01/2011

Claudia Allen Leier, age 65 of New Richmond, died Sunday, May 1, 2011 at Regions Hospital in St. Paul after four months of battling Pancreatic Cancer.  Claudia was born the daughter of Wesley and Donnalda (Coen) Christensen on July 24, 1945 in Amery, Wisconsin.  She was a graduate of St. Croix Central High School with the class of 1963.  On September 4, 1965 she married Ron Leier at the Roberts Congregational Church.  In 1978, Claudia took a job with Evenson Plumbing and Heating.  In 1988, she went to work for Norlake retiring in 2007.  Claudia was a Sunday School Teacher for many years at Roberts Congregational Church, and was also very active with her current church, the New Richmond United Methodist Church.  She was an excellent mentor as a Christian woman, wife, and mother. She was involved in the STEP program with the New Richmond School District, and enjoyed participating in the Western Wisconsin Cribbage League.  She loved remodeling their old home, her flower garden and fish pond, and most of all, her grandchildren.  Claudia was a kind, loving woman with a warm heart.  She had a wonderful insight into people and could always find the blessing in any situation. She is preceded in death by her father, Wesley Christensen and her son, Matthew Leier.  Claudia is survived by her husband, Ron Leier; daughter, Christina (Robert) Ennis; grandsons, Joshua, Zachary, and Andrew Ennis; mother, Donnalda Christensen; brother, Timothy (Sandy) Christensen; sister, Debbie (Dick) Hayhurst; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.  A memorial service was held Saturday, May 7, 2011 at 11:00 am at the New Richmond United Methodist Church.  Visitation was also Saturday from 10:00-11:00 am at the church.  Private interment will be in Boardman Cemetery.  Arrangements were with Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services of New Richmond.
