Cheryl Ann Harding
October 21, 1955 – May 7, 2026

Cheryl Ann Harding, née Schneider, was born in New London, Wisconsin to Elva and Leon Schneider. After the birth of brother Terry, the family relocated to Fond du Lac, where Cheryl’s world was forever changed at the tender age of 12 with the passing of her mother. Her father later remarried Doris, and the family moved to North Fond du Lac, where sister Sara and brother Steven were born. During those formative years, Cheryl spent summers with her Grandma Poppy, who passed down the art of sewing, a skill Cheryl would carry with her throughout her life and later pass onto her daughter, Brenna.

It was at Horace Mann High School in North Fond du Lac that Cheryl met the love of her life, Daniel Harding. She was warmly welcomed into his expansive family of the Hardings and their extended “out-laws,” a term used for her sisters- and brothers-in-law. Dan’s mother, Rhoda Harding, kept an open and inviting home, and the bonds forged there over canning vegetables, fresh baked bread, and good company would shape Cheryl in lasting ways.

On April 26, 1975, Cheryl and Dan were married, and together they raised three daughters: Jessica, Brenna, and Alyssa. Grounded in the faith of both their families, Cheryl grew into a woman of deep conviction in Jesus Christ, passing those same traditions and values on to her children.

Cheryl was always up for a good time and joined a bowling league. She would become quite good at bowling and enjoy competing at State tournaments. More important than the trophies were the friendships (and the drinks shared along the way) that mattered most.

In 1988 the family moved to New Richmond, Wisconsin. Leaving behind friends and family in Fond du Lac was not easy but Cheryl met the challenge with the resilience that defined her. She deepened her faith, found new friendships in the next door neighbors, and activities like line dancing, scrapbooking, and bingo. She would come to appreciate raising her family with rural small-town values.

Over the years, Cheryl wore many hats — toy maker, apple picker, newspaper deliverer, lunch lady — but her most meaningful work never came with a paycheck.

She was a homemaker who ran her household with a gift for stretching a dollar. She sewed her own prom dresses and later coordinating outfits for her young daughters, along with blankets and crafts that made their house feel like a home or handmade gifts for her loved ones.

She was a caregiver who raised her daughters, welcomed the nextdoor neighbor kids, and cherished her grandchildren. She loved reading to them, snuggling them, and singing special songs to help them drift off to sleep. She felt blessed to watch her beloved grandchildren grow into young adults.

Cheryl is survived by her husband Daniel; her daughters Jessica (Ryan) Rondeau, Brenna (Weston) Joachim, and Alyssa (Jared) McDonald; her grandchildren Kayla (fiancée Sam Freiberg) Rondeau, Jenna Rondeau, Sawyer Joachim, and Kennedy Joachim; her siblings Terry (Vicki) Schneider, Sara (Kevin) Krueger, and Steve (Sara) Schneider

She was preceded in death by her mother, Elva Schneider, her step-mother, Doris Schneider, her father Leon Schneider, her mother-in-law, Rhoda Harding and father-in-law, Edward Harding Jr.

A woman of faith and strength. She will be deeply missed.

A Celebration on Cheryl’s Life was Sunday, May 17, 2026 from 12 – 3 pm at Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services 728 S Knowles Avenue New Richmond, WI.  Arrangements are with Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services.
