Charles Leroy Zahnow, age 78, passed away peacefully surrounded by family at his home in Somerset on December 21, 2015. Charles was born on July 18, 1937 in Grand Forks, North Dakota to Roy and Letha (Baker) Zahnow. He graduated from Somerset High School in 1955 then went to Telegraphy School, graduating in 1957. Charles worked at American Hoist and Derrick in St. Paul, Minnesota, he then worked at SMC in Somerset. Charles enjoyed hunting, fishing, farming, bee keeping, spending time at the cabin, and especially enjoyed time with family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Richard and Jim; and sister, Peggy. Charles is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Corrine (Maitrejean) Zahnow; sister, Sheryl Zahnow Casey (Paul); children, Debra Zahnow Lewis (Steve), Shellie Zahnow Jacobs (Dwayne), Scott Zahnow (Shari), Brenda Zahnow Larson (Scott); grandchildren, Steve Jacobs, Rebecca Bowen, Justin Jacobs, Katie Stock, Nick Jacobs, Rachell Carlson, Tyson Belisle, Amanda Larson, Preston Larson and Halle Zahnow. Charles is also survived by 13 great grandchildren, as well as, many nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday December 29th, 2015 at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Somerset, Wisconsin. Visitation will be held for two hours prior to Mass at the church. A private interment will be held at a later date. Memorials preferred to St. Anne’s School.
