Charlene Bowman 05/05/2024

Charlene K. Bowman, age 70, passed away Sunday, May 5, 2024, in St. Paul, Minnesota, surrounded by those who loved her most. She was born on October 1, 1953 to Charles and Ella Mae Russeau in Rice Lake, WI.  Her family eventually moved to Winona, MN where she spent most of her youth. She married Tom Bowman on July 26, 1975, and they welcomed three children, Hunter, Heidi and Kassie. She enjoyed camping with her family, playing guitar and singing around the campfire.

She and Tom moved to River Falls with their children, where she spent the remainder of life. She worked for many years at UWRF in food service until her retirement, she touched the lives of countless students and coworkers.

Her greatest joy in life was her children and grandchildren. She loved Christmas and took pride in making her family feel special. Her children will miss her protective and unconditional love, and constant warnings to be “careful”. She was a playful and funny grandma, always causing trouble and making her grandchildren laugh.  Her fun and outgoing personality will be missed by those who knew her. She was described as a “favorite” among many of her nieces and nephews. She loved having fun, her laugh will never be forgotten.

She and Tom’s deep love and devotion to one another was a great gift. Their reunion in heaven provides some comfort to her family.

She is survived by her children, Hunter Bowman (Mara), Heidi Van Nurden (Ryan) and Kassie Bowman; grandchildren, Drake, Harper and Briley Bowman, Charles, Isabella, William and Annabelle Van Nurden.  She is also survived by her siblings, Luann (Ted) Beeman and Dennis (Sherry) Russeau and many nieces and nephews.

She was proceeded in death by her father and mother, Charles and Ella Mae Russeau; husband, Tom Bowman; and brother, Darell (Marcia) Russeau.

A visitation for Charlene was held on Saturday, May 11, 2024 from 9:30-11:00AM at Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services (805 East Division Steet) River Falls, Wisconsin with a Memorial Service at 11:00AM.  Arrangements are with Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services.

I have come to know Kassie while she has cared for my grandsons as their nanny. we all love her so dearly. I am especially grateful to her heartfelt, motherly way with Matthew and Maverick. She is a delight and no doubt a “chip off the old block” as they say… She certainly looks like her mum- BEAUTIFUL inside and out.! Heartfelt condolences to Kassie and her siblings and the many nieces and nephews she has “mothered” over the years.
