Catherine Troost 03/10/2019

Catherine A Troost, age 76, died Sunday, March 10, 2019 at Estates of Greeley in Stillwater, MN. Catherine was born the daughter of Theodore and Marie (Smith) Gabel on March 15, 1942 in Alden, MN. She grew up in Alden, MN graduating high school in 1960. After high school, Catherine attended the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities graduating with a degree in Elementary Education. She then taught elementary school in St. Louis Park, MN until her two daughters were born. Catherine became a homemaker and took care of her two daughters. Catherine married McClelland “Mac” Troost in 1961 and later divorced in 1988. She was a caring, dignified, proud, and loyal woman. Catherine is preceded in death by her parents, Theodore and Marie Gabel; ex-husband, McClelland “Mac” Troost; and beloved friend, John Lanning. She is survived by her daughters, Dana (Jon Engstrom) Ahlness-Engstrom and Heidi (Eric) Knab; grandchildren, Audrey Ahlness, Wyatt Engstrom, and Madelynn and Josie Knab; siblings, Jack Gabel, Marlene (Ronald) Kinney, and Douglas Gabel; as well as relatives and friends. A funeral service was held Wednesday, March 13, 2019 at 11:00am at Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services (728 S. Knowles Avenue, New Richmond, WI 54017) with a visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment was on Saturday, March 16, 2019 at 3:00pm in Riverside Cemetery in Blue Earth, MN.
