Burdette (Bert) Krueger 09/16/2018

Burdette (Bert) Darwin Krueger, 85, of Somerset, WI, passed away on Sunday, September 16th at the Deerfield Commons Assisted Living Center, New Richmond, WI. Bert was born in Nobles County, MN on July 3, 1933 and attended Fulda High School where he met his wife, Mariellen. Bert and Mariellen were married on September 9, 1954. They began their life together as newlyweds in Alaska where Bert was stationed with the U.S. Army Security Agency. Later they moved to the family farm in Fulda. In 1968 Bert, Mariellen, and their five children, moved to Wisconsin and Bert worked for the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) as a federal meat inspector. After retiring from the USDA Bert worked as a realtor with Re Max realty in Somerset, WI. Bert loved to fish, play cribbage, and read westerns. His favorite hobby was fishing — whether the fish were biting or not. Bert is preceded in death by his wife, Mariellen, parents, August and Lillie (Strate) Krueger, siblings, Leora Enninga, Lillian Ommen and Ervin Krueger; daughter-in-law, Debbie Krueger; and great-grandchildren, Jacob Hayman and Madeline Gessner. Bert is survived by children, Bob Krueger of Somerset, Tom Krueger of New Richmond, Linda (Bob) Harmon of New Brighton, MN, David (Becky) Krueger of Pittsburgh, PA, Laura Jo (John) Jarchow of New Richmond; grandchildren, Jeremy, Chad, Jessica, Emily, Amanda, Margaret, William, Stuart, Carrie, Adam, Meredith; many great-grandchildren; and sister, Elaine Schuster. Mass of Christian Burial Sunday, September 23, 2018 at 2:00 P.M. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 151 South Washington, New Richmond, WI, with visitation one hour prior to the funeral. Interment at St. Anne’s Cemetery, Somerset, WI. Arrangements are in care of Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services Beebe Chapel of New Richmond. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to St. Mary Catholic School, New Richmond.

    To Cousin Bert’s family, I am so sorry about your l. My memories of Bert go back to family reunions where he was the funniest guy in the room. Everyone loved him. What a Dad you had and how much you will miss him. My prayers, hugs and love to you all.
