Brayden James Binford, age 18, of New Richmond passed away unexpectedly on Friday, November 18, 2022. He was born August 19, 2004 in New Richmond the son to Harper Binford and James E. Thompson, Jr. Brayden graduated from New Richmond High School. He had a huge heart and protected the ones that he loved. Brayden loved warm weather, being outside and the beach. He is remembered as an imaginative, talented, creative and intelligent person. He is preceded in death by his great-grandparents, Curt and Betty Bottolfson, James and Doris Binford, Thelma Trago, Marjorie G. Thompson and great-great grandmother, Lillian McKeever. Brayden is survived by his mother, Harper (Andrew Zywiec) Binford; father, James E. (Adriane Sevelin) Thompson, Jr.; brother, Aidan Anez; grandparents, Matthew and Kathy Binford, James E. and Marjorie L. Thompson, Sr., Mark and Valorie Sevelin, Richard and Loralee Zywiec; great-grandmother, Ann Elfstrom; aunt, Hayley (Joseph) Needham and cousins, Graham and Brigham Needham; aunt, Jennifer (Scott Dewlin) Thompson and cousin, Kayla Marie Delaney; uncle, Matthew D. (Jackie) Thompson, Sr.; and cousins, Warryn (Kelly), Matthew Jr., and Victoria Thompson; great aunts, Debbie (John) Shattuck and family and Kris (Randy) McCann and family; great uncle Mitchell (Diana) Binford and family and great uncle Michael Binford, great uncle Jeffery (Debbie) Thompson; great-great aunt, Shirley (Raymond) Encer; many cousins, other relatives and friends. A Celebration of Brayden’s Life was held on Tuesday, November 29, 2022 at 1:00 pm at First Lutheran Church (218 County Road K) in New Richmond. Visitation was also Tuesday from 11:00-1:00 pm at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to: Halos of the St. Croix Valley. I’m so sorry for your loss. I was in Brayden’s grade. Brayden was great at metal shop class and helped me with many things in that class. If the teacher was busy, he would be there to help. Rest in peace, Binford.
We are so very sorry for your loss.
I never expected it to be like this. He had so many plans he wanted to do with me which we’ll never be able to fulfill. It’s a shock to everyone, friends and family alike. Love you buddy

brayden had the biggest heart i’ve known. he was such a bright light in my life, i still can’t comprehend that he’s gone. i’m so sorry for everyone’s loss. he lives on in all of us

I was in class of 2022 with Brayden, there are no words that can fulfill the pain that our class must be feeling, let alone your family. Just know that we will never forget him, he was always there when you needed a friend, when you needed a teacher, when you needed comfort, or when you needed advice on a life lesson. I am so sorry I couldn’t we there when he needed us the most. Fly high Brayden, you WILL live on in all of us, and to the family, im thinking of you and praying to whatever God is out there, that eventually you will be able to have peace in your life again. Probably one of my favorite memories of Brayden is when Jax & I first moved next door to him. We were hanging out on our back patio reading, drawing, soaking up the sun. Then, all of a sudden I hear 10 yr old Brayden say “Hi Daisy” from all the way up on top of our tall ass tree. Had to be like 20 feet in the air! I jumped out of my chair and was like omg are you stuck?! And he laughed and laughed. Even Jax did a jaw drop at that one! We were totally impressed with how brave he was.
That wild, firey, bold, kind hearted kid will be so damn missed.

I was so sad to learn of Brayden’s passing. I only knew Brayden a short time as Interim Principal at Paperjack Elementary School. He. Had such a bright smile and big personality, Brayden will live in my heart forever. I wish peace and comfort for Brayden’s family knowing that he touched so many lives.
I am so very sorry for the loss of Brayden. I’m Adriane’s Aunt Julie. We sure enjoyed having Brayden at our family gatherings and we will miss him very much. He was loved by all of us, and a big part of our family too. We have many happy memories of Brayden. May he RIP.
