Bradley Swanson 08/30/2020

Bradley John Swanson, age 66 of Paducah, KY, died on Sunday, August 30, 2020 in St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville, TN after a short battle with brain cancer. Brad was born in Red Wing, MN to Merlin and Dorothea (Doetsch) Swanson. He was a 1972 graduate of New Richmond High School. After graduating from high school, Brad joined the National Guard in 1973. In 1974 he joined the US Army to serve his country. He participated in Desert Shield/Desert Strom and was stationed overseas in Germany, Saudi Arabia and Hawaii. After his retirement from the Army in 1994, he spent time in Iraq working as a civilian for KBR as a supply clerk for the Department of the Army and in supply at Fort Campbell, KY. He married Shawanna Potter on October 24, 2012. Brad is survived by his wife, Shawanna “Shay”; sisters, Barbara (Ron) Dinger of New Richmond, WI, Theresa (Duane) Odalen of Baldwin, WI, Velma Olson of New Richmond, WI, Deedee Swanson of New Richmond, WI; brothers, Steve (Betty) Swanson of Star Prairie, WI, Reg (Luetta) Swanson of Turtle Lake, WI; sisters-in-law, Bonnie (nee Sebion) Swanson of River Falls, WI, Patty (nee Peterson) Swanson of New Richmond, WI; brothers-in-law, Bob Baker, Ed Glimpse; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; five sisters; three brothers; four brothers-in-law; a niece; and a nephew. Interment with military honors was held on Tuesday, September 15, 2020 at 12 pm in the Pavilion at the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spooner, WI.
