Bonnie Lou Lundell 04/26/2023

Our angel on earth has gained her heavenly wings. Bonnie Lou Lecander was born on April 23, 1942, in Lakeville, Minnesota. The Lecander family relocated and settled on a dairy farm in Deer Park, Wisconsin, where Bonnie grew up. Bonnie was one of eight children and loved telling stories of her wonderful life growing up on the farm. Bonnie and her siblings attended school at the Oakland Country School in Cylon, a two-room schoolhouse. Bonnie attended school in New Richmond where she was a majorette in the marching band, a cheerleader, the Snowball Queen and the Homecoming Queen. It was at NRHS that Bonnie met John Walsh. The two married and had three children; John, Jr (Walleye), Jodi and Jane.

Bonnie worked as a secretary at the New Richmond High School. She later became a word processor and ended her working career at State Farm Insurance Regional Office.

Bonnie met Joe Lundell in 1984, the two married and shared a wonderful life.  Joe & Bonnie’s home was always the gathering spot, the place where family comes together for daily visits, holidays and birthdays. Many good times were had, many events celebrated and a great deal of love was always present at Joe & Bonnie’s.

Bonnie is known to her family as an angel on earth; giving, kind, caring and always making others feel good. She was a lifelong caregiver, always wanting and providing the best for everyone in her path. Bonnie loved home, it was her favorite place to be.

Bonnie’s hobbies included reading cookbooks, baking, cooking, trips to the casino, and reading magazines. Her favorite pastime was any time spent with family and friends. Through the years, Bonnie’s best friends were her siblings, they are a close group and spent a lot of time together. Bonnie’s idea of time well spent was time in her kitchen. She was famous for her strawberry jam, baked goodies and making even an ordinary day special with her baking talents.

Bonnie loved mornings, hosting daily coffees, Christmas, birthdays, planting flowers in the spring, animals and her Thursday coffee group. Moreover, anything else Bonnie loved being a grandma! The kids loved every minute spent at “Grandma & Joes.”

Bonnie is preceded in death by her parents, Roy & Myrtle Lecander; her sisters, Joanne Hennessey, Carol Mullen and Ruthie Dubois; her sister-in-law, Jan Lecander and her brothers-in-law, Bob Heittman and Bill Hennessey.

Bonnie is survived by her loving husband, Joe Lundell; her son John (Walleye) Walsh, her daughters, Jodi Saliny (Jim) and Jane Walsh (Dan Wilkinson); her grandchildren Foley Quinn (Melissa), Brian Quinn, Cody Walsh, Ali Sirek (Colton) and Andy Saliny. The five great-grandchildren who brought Bonnie so much joy include Olivia, Morgen, Bailey, Rosie Lou and Henry. Also survived by her siblings whom she adored, Howard Lecander, Pete Lecander (Donna), Elaine Heittman, Lois Moe (Wayne). Brother-in-law Bob Mullen (Gert) along with more sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, lots of nieces, nephews and dear friends. (LOTS!)

We are forever grateful to the staff at Westfield’s Hospital and the staff at St. Croix County Rehab Center for the care and compassion they provided for our much-loved Bonnie Lou in recent weeks.
