Blanche Bjorklund, age 86 of Somerset, Wisconsin, died on Friday, March 2, 2012 at the St. Croix Health Center in New Richmond. Blanche was born the daughter of Victor and Georgianna (Martell) Sicard on July 11, 1925 in Somerset. She was married to Chuck Bjorklund on June 3, 1946 at St. Clements Catholic Church in Minneapolis, Minnesota. They lived in Northeast Minneapolis. In 1957, they bought a cabin on the Apple River. In 1991, they tore down the cabin and built a home. Blanche was a wonderful mother and grandmother and a great homemaker. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, playing poker, and traveling. Blanche and Chuck visited all 50 states, England, France and the Canary Islands. Blanche was a gracious woman who enjoyed a very close circle of friends. She is preceded in death by her parents and 8 siblings. Blanche is survived by her husband, Chuck Bjorklund; children, Brad (Julia) Bjorklund, Patti (George) Kolp, Vikki (Craig) Jameson and the twins, Jay (Julie) Bjorklund and Joan (Phillip) Hendrix; 12 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and her care giving family at the St. Croix Health Center. A Memorial Visitation was held Saturday, March 10, 2012 from 2-5 pm with a prayer service at 3 pm at the Bakken-Young Beebe Chapel in New Richmond. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association. Arrangements were with Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services Beebe Chapel of New Richmond.
