Bill Evenson 02/03/2023

William “Bill” Evenson, age 87 of Baldwin, WI, died on Friday, February 3, 2023 at Regions Hospital in St. Paul, MN. Bill was born the son of William and Lena (Nelson) Evenson on December 28, 1935 in River Falls, WI. He grew up in the Hammond, WI area, graduating from Hammond High School with the class of 1953. On October 20, 1956, Bill was married to Colleen Hyde at St. Mary’s Church in Hammond. Bill worked at the Armour Company in St. Paul, MN for 21 years. After Armour, Bill went to work for the St. Croix County Highway Department, retiring in 1998. He enjoyed playing golf, coffee with the guys, fishing and gardening. Bill made friends easily, was blessed with the gift of gab, and loved to pull a good prank on friends or family. He was the best husband, father grandfather, and great-grandfather, always putting his family first. He is preceded in death by his parents, William and Lena Evenson; grandson, Matthew Rasmussen; son-in-law, Mike Fern; and 7 siblings. Bill is survived by his wife of 66 years, Colleen Evenson; children, Lori (Dan) Hawkins, Jody Fern, Vicki (Dennis) Ullom, and Gary (Mary) Evenson; grandchildren, Brent (Jessica) Hawkins, Jackie (Evan) Larsen, Nathan Fern, Jared (Shawna) Fern, Jeff (Kim) Fern, Aaron Rasmussen, Katie Evenson, Hannah Evenson, Brooke Evenson; great-grandchildren, Jack, Graham, Ava, Shane, Leah, Emmett, Weston; brother, Harold Evenson; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Mass of Christian Burial was on Wednesday, February 8, 2023 at 12 noon at St. Mary’s Catholic Church 1265 Ridgeway St, Hammond, WI and streamed live through the link just below this obituary. Visitation was also on Wednesday from 10 am – 12 noon at the church. Interment was in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Arrangements are with Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services.

    So sorry to hear hear of Bill’s passing. He and the whole family, were great neighbors on highway 12, Always there to help. I have lots of good memories of Bill. He will be greatly missed by all that knew what a great person he was. Rest in peace my friend.

    My first thought when reading Bills obituary, the picture truly “is Bill”, His smile shows his love of all around him!

    I’m so sorry about the passing of Bill. I know so well how much it hurts to lose a spouse. We never get over it, but we do adjust to being on our own. When I saw you two last fall at the reunion, I knew he wasn’t well. I send my sympathy and compassion for the hurt you’re going thru.
