Beverly Sue Mears, age 72 of Maiden Rock, WI, died on Thursday, April 7, 2011 at her home after a long hard battle with cancer. She was born the daughter of John and Mary Sue (Owens) Davis on December 22, 1938 in Bethel Ohio. Beverly was a graduate of Ripley High School in Ripley, Ohio. After high school, she worked as bookkeeper for several years. On February, 2, 1974, Bev married Marlin “Red” Mears in Lebanon, Ohio. They moved to Maiden Rock in the summer of 1974. Bev was an avid collector and shopper. She was talented at sewing, crocheting and arranging flowers, winning many ribbons at the fair. Her passion in life was her children. She was an intelligent, strong women who would call a spade a spade. Beverly is preceded in death by her parents, John and Mary Sue Davis; son Daniel Mears; and sister, Jeanne Bechtol. She is survived by her husband, Marlin “Red” Mears; children, Lori Mears and Eric (Sandy) Schwan; grandchildren, Kathryn (Carl) Woltanski, MaKayla Mears, Johnny Schwan, and many other relatives and friends. A Funeral Service was held on Monday, April 11, 2011 at 11 am at the Maiden Rock United Methodist Church. Visitation was Sunday, April 10, 2011 from 4-8 pm at the Bakken-Young Funeral Home in Maiden Rock and on Monday from 10-11 am at the church. Interment was in the Oakland Cemetery in Stockholm.
