Betty Vance 02/20/2020

Betty Ann Vance, age 84 of New Richmond, WI, died peacefully and with her granddaughter by her side on February 20, 2020 at The Deerfield Senior Living in New Richmond, WI. Betty was born the daughter of Bernard and Meta (Kastens) Wichelman on May 8, 1935 in East Farmington, WI. She grew up in New Richmond, WI. Betty was married to Kenneth Gordon Vance in 1952 until his death on November 6, 1993. Together they had four children Karen (Greg) Cody, Tom Vance, Jeff (Karin) Vance, and Brian (Sharon) Vance, and six grandchildren Steve (Dana) Cody, Michelle Hammer (Mustafa Ozer), Christopher (Jen) Vance, Christiana (Branten) Kortz, Julia Vance, and Brian Vance Jr. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Bernard and Meta Wichelman and her husband Kenneth Vance. Betty enjoyed sewing and crocheting and made many crochet blankets for her loved ones. She also enjoyed reading, playing cards and other games, traveling, and gardening. Betty had a special love for all animals, especially dogs. She often had a small and well loved dog sitting on her lap. Betty worked for the downtown “dime store” Schultz Brothers for many years and enjoyed her time working there until the store closed. Betty is remembered as a very nice, kind and gentle woman always willing to help others. She was proud of her children and grandchildren. Thank you to the entire Deerfield staff for your years of loving care and friendship and Thank you to the Lakeview Hospice team for your care, guidance and support to the family.  Memorials preferred to PresbyterianHomes and Services Foundation.  A Celebration of Betty’s Life was held on Sunday, February 23, 2020 at 2 pm at the Deerfield Chapel 1127 W 8th Street New Richmond, WI.  Visitation was also on Sunday from 1-2 pm at the Deerfield.  Interment will be in New Richmond Cemetery at a later date.  Arrangements are with Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services.
