Betty Schoettle 05/08/2015

Betty Ellen Schoettle,74, died peacefully Friday, May 8th at home surrounded by her family after a long and courageous battle with cancer.  Betty was born to William and Ellen Pritchard on February 21, 1941 in Eau Claire, WI.  She was the eldest of four children, Terry (Carol deceased) Pritchard, William Pritchard (deceased) and Jeanine (Mike) Adams.

Betty shared many stories of growing up on their farm with her siblings and cousins in the Town of Union.  She married Ken Schoettle at St. James Catholic Church in Eau Claire on September 24, 1960.  Ken and Betty built their first home on Townsvalley Road, River Falls, WI and have remained in the area for over 50 years.

Betty is survived by her loving husband Ken; her children Jodi (Greg) Ellious of Wisconsin Rapids, Beki (Tom) Morrow of River Falls, Traci (Dean Borchardt) Kolo of River Falls, Bobbi (Mark) Sebesta of Eau Claire, Juli (Mark) Cota of Red Wing, Tony (Angela) Schoettle of River Falls, and Troy (Tiffany) Schoettle of Apple Valley. Her grandchildren Jacob (Blake), Ben (Holly), Nicki, Rory, Elise, Max, Mikayla, Naomi, Kendra, Kelsi, McKenzie, Roshaun, Zach, Quentin, Kylee, Jaylin, Marcus, Andreus and “greats” Ryan, Brody and Carson.

Her life’s work was being an amazing daughter, sister, wife, mother, foster mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.  Ken and Betty have seven children that fit just right into a station wagon and a church pew.

She was involved in St. Bridget’s Catholic Church and School, and was a pro-life activist.  She enjoyed interior designing for multiple homes, businesses and her beautiful home for family gatherings.  She had a fantastic group of friends and neighbors that shared travels, birthday club, card games, and much more.  Ken and Betty also were known for their 30 year-long business “Country Pleasures Boutique”.

Her greatest joy was her large family, including 20 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, 21 foster children, and many Godchildren.

Funeral services were officiated by Father Jerry Harris at St. Bridget’s Catholic Church in River Falls, WI on Wednesday, May 13.  Visitation was from 4-6 p.m. Mass was at 6 p.m. a meal to followed.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a cause that is very important to Betty – atcp.org/teambrody.  This is to help find a cure for a disease that is affecting her great grandchild Brody.  Arrangements are with Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services of River Falls.
