Betty Mickelson 05/18/2019

Betty Mickelson, age 91 of New Richmond, WI, died on Saturday, May 18, 2019 at Regions Hospital in St. Paul, MN.  Betty was born on December 2, 1927 in the town of Bone Lake, Polk County, Wisconsin to Martin and Anna (Bottolfson) Johnson.  She was baptized on April 1, 1928.  She grew up on a farm in Wanderoos, WI.  Betty taught school from 1947 – 1953.  She was married to John Mickelson in June of 1953.  They were blessed with 3 children, John, Susan, and Sandra.  Betty taught Sunday School for many years and continued mowing lawn on 2 farms past the age of 90.  She was known for her lefse and her chocolate chip cookies.  Betty was caring and selfless, wife, mother, grandmother and friend.  She became a member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in 2013.  She is preceded in death by her husband, John; parents, Martin and Anna Johnson; brothers, Julian, Jean (Marian), Jalmer, Arnold (Donna), Marvin (Harriet), Duaine, Jerome; and sisters, Edna (Russell) Emerson, Hazel (Lee) Cotton, Lorraine (Donald) Emerson.  Betty is survived by her children, John Mickelson, Susan (Gary) Svenningsen, Sandra (Rick) Brusewitz; grandchildren, Joshua (Jenny) Svenningsen, Andrew Svenningsen, Krista (Norco) Uchal, Bradley Brusewitz; great-grandchildren, Eli and Lily; sister-in-law, Grace Johnson; and many other relatives and friends.  A Funeral Service was held on Wednesday, May 22, 2019 at 11 am at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church 365 W River Drive New Richmond, WI.  Visitation was Tuesday, May 21, 2019 from 4-8 pm at Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services 728 S Knowles Avenue New Richmond, WI and on Wednesday from 10-11 am at the church.  Interment was in New Richmond Cemetery. Arrangements are with Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services.

    Sorry to hear of the death of your Mother. We live upstairs at JC’s farm in 1968 & 1969.
    Lost contact but still think of you. We’re living in ND. and won’t be able to attend the funeral. Our thoughts are with you.
