Betty Jordahl 08/26/2018

Betty Marie (Bodsberg) Jordahl was born on June 7, 1928, in a house on Hwy 12 between Baldwin and Woodville, WI. Betty was the youngest of five children born to Jens and Clara Josephine (Pederson) Bodsberg. She was baptized, confirmed, and married at Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Baldwin, WI. Betty was called to her eternal home on Aug 26, 2018. Betty spent her growing up years on the farm and attended East Baldwin Grade School. After Betty’s father’s death in 1940, she helped her mother with farm chores until about 1942 when they moved to Baldwin. Betty started working as a waitress at Manning’s Café in Baldwin. She married Donald Jordahl in 1946 and later moved to Washington and then California. They later divorced; and Betty moved back to St. Paul, MN, where she worked in housekeeping at St. Johns hospital. Betty moved to Amery to care for Donald who was diagnosed with brain cancer. After Don’s death in 1980 she returned to St. Paul and worked at United Hospital until she retired in 1991. In 1994, she moved to Baldwin and volunteered at the Baldwin Senior Center. She was hired at the Baldwin Senior Center as a manager for two years. In 2002, she moved to California to be near her family. While there she joined Emmanuel Lutheran Church. Betty was among a group of singers who went to several nursing homes to entertain them with songs and hymns. In 2010, she moved back to Baldwin and lived in the Ann Crider Apartments. In 2016, she moved into Assisted Living at the Baldwin Care Center, then into the nursing home until her passing.
She is survived by daughters, Sharon (James) Randall and Judi (John) Spurr; sons, David Jordahl and Kurt Todd; six grandchildren, Bill (Debbie) Chapin; Jamie (Debby) Randall; Kristin Randall; Nicki (Tim) Albright; Staci (Jeremy) Michaels; Hileigh and McKinzie Todd; ten great-grandchildren, Jordan Chapin, Zachary Chapin, Rebekka Chapin, Erica Randall, Lindsey Randall, Natalie Randall, Kaitlyn McManigal, Jared McManigal, Christian Michaels, and Eden Michaels. Betty was preceded in death by her parents; former husband, Donald Jordahl; son-in-law, Paul Thomas Chapin; four siblings; Cora Thompson, and Ernest, Curtis, and Robert Bodsberg.
A Funeral Service was held on Friday, August 31, 2018 at 11 am at Gethsemane Lutheran Church (1350 Florence Street Baldwin, WI 54002). Visitation was be held on Thursday, August 30, 2018 from 4-7 pm at the Bakken-Young Funeral Home and on Friday from 10-11 am at the church. Interment was held in Lone Pine Cemetery in Woodville, WI. Arrangements are with Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services of Baldwin.
