I drove for the VSO I Transported Bernie to the VA in 2006, When he moved I picked him up and he mentioned he probably won’t see a hundred. I said “You will!” That was in September 2018. He was a delight to talk with, his stories will be with me forever. May God bless.

Bernie was a patriot, a World War II fighter pilot, and a great guy. I am a retired Air Force pilot who flew supersonic fighters, but Bernie taught me how to fly 100 mph tail dragger airplanes. Like Walt O’Brien above, I am a driver for the County Veterans Service Office and it was my honor and pleasure to take Bernie to the Minneapolis VA several times. He had great stories about his experiences during WW II, as well as his adventures after the war. He will be greatly missed.
