Bernard Colbeth 12/30/2019

Bernard “Bernie” Colbeth, age 80, of New Richmond passed peacefully surrounded by his family on Monday, December 30, 2019 at Regions Hospital in St. Paul. He was born the son of Floyd and Myrtle (Hagen) Colbeth on June 7, 1939 in Hudson. Bernie grew up on the Colbeth family farm in the Roberts area. On June 28, 1958, he married Carol Timm and they were blessed with 3 children, Mark, Linda and Cindy. Bernie worked at Andersen Windows where he retired after 30 years. His hobbies included attending races, supporting his grandchildren at every sporting event, and socializing; he could strike up a conversation with anyone. In addition, he loved garage-saling for treasures. If Bernie knew you needed something, he either had it or wouldn’t stop until he found it. He will be remembered as a loving father and proud grandfather. Bernie was known for his random acts of kindness and was extremely grateful for his wife, Carol, who cared for him and got him through hard times. Bernie was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Seth, Don, Ron, Tom; and grandson, Joshua Colbeth. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Carol; children, Mark (Susan) Colbeth, Linda Nelson, Cindy (Russ) Sternweis; grandchildren, Jacob (Alison) Nelson, Ashley (Doron) Semaza, Sarah Nelson, Jared Nelson, Aleisha Colbeth, Waylon Sternweis; great-granddaughter, Kristy Nelson; brother, Dick (Pat) Colbeth; sisters-in-law, Leona, Marijean, and Betsy Colbeth. A memorial service was held Saturday, January 11, 2020 at 11:00 am at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church (365 West River Dr.) in New Richmond. Visitation was also Saturday from 9:30 am until time of the service. Arrangements are with Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services.

We are very sorry to hear of Bernie’s passing. Bernie was such a great friend and was always there to do whatever he could to help out with the race team. He always had a smile and laugh and never got down. May your memories help you through this sad time. Godspeed Bernie.
