Barbara DeRosier, age 73, of New Richmond, Wisconsin, died Saturday, May 20, 2023 at Lakeview Hospital in Stillwater, Minnesota, surrounded by family after her courageous battle against lung cancer. She was a woman of great strength. Barb was born to William and Florence Purcell in Nampa, Idaho on January 27, 1950, and was raised in Allentown, Pennsylvania. Greg and Barb got married on July 31, 1991, in Milbank, South Dakota. Together they raised their family in Somerset, Wisconsin. Barb worked in a few different fields but the one she loved the most was “The Lunch Lady”. She loved and cherished each and every child throughout the years along with many beloved coworkers and school staff members in the Somerset School District that became family. She had a love for animals, traveling, camping, fishing trips and going to their cabin. She loved spending time with friends and family. Barb had a great eye for interior design and loved to garage sale. She enjoyed collecting and shopping for antiques and oh yes, can’t forget Casino trips, too! She is survived by her husband, Greg; children, Trevor, Kaci, Kalyn (Mike); sibling, Shirley Stout; in laws, John (Maggie), Mary (Jim), Kevin (Beth), Chris, Peter, Susan; stepsons, Gregory (Annie), Patrick (Amber) and Adam; along with many nieces, nephews, grandchildren and many friends that have come family. She is preceded in death by her parents, William and Florance; siblings, Sandra, Stanley, Morris “Gene” and David; in laws, Sheila and Michael. A Memorial Service for Barb was held on Friday, June 16, 2023 at 6 pm at Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services 728 S Knowles Avenue New Richmond, WI and streamed live through the link just below this obituary. Visitation was also on Friday, June 16, 2023 from 4-6 pm at the funeral home. Refreshments followed the service. Private interment will be in St. Anne’s Cemetery in Somerset, WI. Arrangements are with Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services.
