Gerald (Jerry) W. Christensen, age 83, of New Richmond, Wisconsin, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on January 26, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.
A devoted follower of Jesus, Jerry lived a life marked by quiet faith, strength, and courage. His faith was evident in the way he served his church, his community, and the people around him.
Family was Jerry’s greatest earthly treasure. He was a loving husband, a devoted father, and a proud grandfather and great-grandfather who cherished time spent together. He taught by example, encouraging those he loved to work hard, trust God, and embrace the adventure of life. He also had a playful side—Jerry loved to laugh and was well known for his practical jokes.
An outdoorsman at heart, Jerry found joy in God’s creation. He loved fishing with family and friends, hunting, skiing, and traveling with those he loved. He deeply valued his church family at First Baptist Church, where he was a member for 45 years and faithfully served in roles as deacon and treasurer.
Jerry was committed to his work and served as Vice President of Friday Canning Corporation in New Richmond, Wisconsin. He was respected for his leadership, wisdom, and steady character, and was known for approaching his work with excellence. He was a true servant leader.
Above all, Jerry will be remembered for his steady presence, quiet strength, quick wit, and unwavering commitment to God. While his family grieves his passing, they rejoice in the promise of eternal life, knowing he is now restored, at peace, and in the presence of Jesus.
Jerry is survived by Carol, his beloved wife of 60 years; his children, Marrie and (Bob) Simpson, Julie and (Carl) Gaede, and Tom and (Tracy) Christensen; his grandchildren Heather, Taylor, Hannah, Zac, Zoe, Judith, Emma, Grace and Elijah; his great-grandchildren Henry, Belle, Annie, Micah, Maggie, Mason, Marlee, Mellie, Myla, and Thea; and many extended family members and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Bill and Dorothy Christensen and sister, Nancy Asper.
A Celebration of Jerry’s Life will be held at First Baptist Church 341 North Shore Drive New Richmond, Wisconsin, on Saturday, January 31, 2026, with visitation from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., and service at 12 p.m. A luncheon will follow. Arrangements are with Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services.
