John Robert Peirson 04/26/2026

John Robert Peirson Jr., passed away on April 26, 2026, at the age of 87. Born on December 11, 1938, to John and Virginia (nee Brust) Peirson in Madison, Wisconsin, he was raised in New Richmond, Wisconsin. A proud graduate of New Richmond High School in 1956, he furthered his education at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls.

On February 23, 1963, John married his high school classmate, Marie (nee Sias), at Saint Luke’s Lutheran Church in New Richmond. Together, they owned and operated Wells Electric & Gifts for over 40 years, helping to support local families and businesses within the community. John dedicated 24 years of service in the Wisconsin Army National Guard, achieving the rank of 1st Sergeant, and was an active member of American Legion Post 80 Butler/Harmon, where he recently served as the Historian.

An avid outdoorsman, John loved hunting and fishing, often traveling to northern Wisconsin and South Dakota for hunting adventures with family. He enjoyed winter getaways with Marie, particularly to Palm Springs, California. Known for his generosity, John regularly lent a helping hand to various organizations and was a dedicated supporter of First Lutheran Church of New Richmond. He cherished time spent with his children and grandchildren, sharing laughter at the lake or discussing life over coffee while working on crossword puzzles.

John is survived by his sons, John (Julie) and Scott (Maryjo) Peirson; grandchildren Jack (Alexa), Melissa, Noah, Robert, Emilie (Ian) Grote Berube, and Nick Grote; sister-in-law Duffy (Mike) Weiberg; along with stepsiblings, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many special friends. He was preceded in death by his wife Marie, his parents, brother Bruce, and a baby son.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, May 22, 2026, at 11 am at First Lutheran Church 218 County Road K New Richmond, WI. Visitation will be Thursday, May 21, 2025, from 5-8 pm at Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services 728 S Knowles Avenue New Richmond, WI and on Friday from 10-11 am at the church. Interment will be in the New Richmond Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the Butler-Harmon American Legion Post 80 Honor Squad. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be directed to First Lutheran Church, American Legion Post 80, New Richmond Kiwanis, or The Deerfield. Arrangements are with Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services.

    I am so sad to hear this. Now he and Marie will be together without pain and suffering. He was a pleasure to know. My deepest sympathy to all of you.
