Harlyn Louis Puhrmann, age 87 of River Falls, WI died April 10, 2026.  He was born April 27, 1938, in Baker Township, O’Brien County, Iowa to Ernest and Helen (Stofferan) Puhrmann.  He attended country school in Baker Township through the fourth grade then attended Paulina Public School graduating in 1956.

Harlyn worked at Feed & Fert. Co. from 1958-1964 and MAPCO Propane Pipeline Co. from 1964-1977.  In 1977 he moved his family to Hager City, WI and took over his father-in-law’s dairy farm retiring in 2001 when his son, Daniel, took over.

Harlyn married Helen Sara Denzer on September 7, 1968, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, River Falls, WI (Big River). He enjoyed dancing, bowling, listening to old-time music, and playing cards.  Harlyn and Helen took several bus tours to various parts of the country after retiring from the farm.  Harlyn also enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s activities.

Harlyn is survived by his wife of 57 years.  Children Sara (Byron) Anderson of Spring Valley, WI, Christina (Jason) Spriggle of Marine on St. Croix, MN, Michael (Allison) Puhrmann of Lakeland, MN, and Daniel (Jessica) Puhrmann of Hager City, WI. Grandchildren Elizabeth (Michael), Grace (Jason), Benjamin, Claire, Damon, Camryn, Molly (Matthew), Megan, Madelyn, Maysen, Lily, Owen, Gavin, Evie, and Anna.  One sister, Elaine Faber, of River Falls, WI and one brother, Brad Puhrmann, of Paulina, IA.

Preceding him in death were his parents, brother Ronald Puhrmann, and brother-in-law Leland Faber.

A celebration of life was held at St. Bridget Catholic Church (211 E Division St) River Falls, Wisconsin on Thursday, April 16, 2026 from 3:00 – 5:00PM with a short prayer service at 5:00PM.  Interment is in St. Bridget Cemetery.

Arrangements are with Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services.
