Anthony Van Someren 05/21/2012

Anthony Van Someren, age 84 of Baldwin, went home to be with his Lord on Monday, May 21, 2012.  He was born the son of Peter C. and Esther (Anderson) Van Someren on April 23, 1928 in Baldwin.  Tony graduated from Baldwin High School with the class of 1947.  On June 3, 1949, he married Helen Terpstra in Brooten, MN.  Tony and Helen farmed near Baldwin until their son; Allen took over the farm in 1988.  He was a lifelong member of Christian Reformed Church, serving in many different capacities through the years.  Tony was a kind, compassionate man, who was patient and content.  He taught his family about God and Jesus and the importance of Faith.  He is preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Esther Van Someren; wife, Helen Van Someren; sons-in-law, Jerry Milanowski and Dan Berrevoets; siblings, Marie Zorhoff, George Van Someren, Bernard Van Someren, Lawrence Van Someren, and Lloyd Van Someren; and sister-in-law, Theresa Terpstra.  Tony is survived by his children, Janet Milanowski, Allen (Barb) Van Someren, Marlys Berrevoets, and Roger (Lois) Van Someren; grandchildren, Melissa (Mike) Vanden Hoek, Jerry (Annette) Milanowski, Jr., Michelle Stedman, Heidi Van Someren, Chad Van Someren, Laura Van Someren, Lani (Tim) Knutson, Craig (Mandy) Van Someren, and Kyle (Alissa) Van Someren; great-grandchildren, Madlyn and Malana Vanden Hoek and Peter and Michael Knutson; brother, Richard (Carol) Van Someren; in-laws, Harold Zorhoff, Myra Van Someren, Gertrude Van Someren, Wilma Stadt, Dolores Van Someren, Dorothy Hedman, Beatrice Hedman, and Harriet (Dean) Lampers; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.  A Celebration of Tony’s Life was held on Thursday, May 24, 2012 at 11 am at the Christian Reformed Church in Baldwin.  Visitation was held on Wednesday, May 23, 2012 from 4-7 pm at the Bakken-Young Funeral Home in Baldwin.  Interment preceded the service on Thursday at the Baldwin Cemetery.  Memorials may be directed to the Christian Reformed World Relief Committee.  Arrangements are with Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services of Baldwin.
