Anne Kiekhoefer 04/06/2011

Anne B. Kiekhoefer, age 92 of New Richmond, died Wednesday, April 6, 2011, at Westfield’s Hospital in New Richmond.  Anne was born the daughter of George and Lulu (Strohbeen) Olson on October 17, 1918, in New Richmond, WI.  She attended grade school at Squaw Lake and graduated from New Richmond High School with the class of 1936.  After high school, Anne attended 1 year of teachers’ training through the River Falls Teachers College, offered in New Richmond, and then a year of Business College.  WWII broke out, and Anne went to work in Eau Claire in the defense plant.  On September 17, 1946, she was married to Clarence A. Kiekhoefer.  They spent 10 years farming, after which time they bought and renovated the Landing Hill School, where she continued to raise their 5 children.  She later spent 15 years working as a school cook.  She was an active member of Christ Lutheran Church in Somerset, the American Legion Auxiliary, and the Kitchen Band.  She enjoyed pulling weeds and picking up sticks in the yard.  She loved people and enjoyed cooking and serving meals.  Her family was her passion, spending as much time as she could involved in the activities of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.  Anne was stubborn yet flexible, patient, forgiving, and a woman of strong faith.  She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Lulu Olson; husband, Clarence Kiekhoefer; and son-in-law, James Cook.  Anne is survived by her children, Bonnie Cook, Rex (Diane) Kiekhoefer, Tod Kiekhoefer, Lorie (Chuck) Peterson, Max Kiekhoefer; grandchildren, John (Jen) Cook, James (Christina) Cook, Catherine (Darin) Frandsen, Joseph (Tanisha) Cook, Laura Kiekhoefer, Joshua Peterson, Kevin Peterson, Scott Peterson; great-grandchildren, Ethan Cook, Evan Cook, Isaac Cook, James Cook, Grace Anne Cook, Chloe Lu Frandsen; and many other relatives and friends.  A Funeral Service was held on Saturday, April 9, 2011, at 3 pm at Christ Lutheran Church in Somerset, WI.  Visitation was also Saturday from 1-3 pm at the church.  Interment was in Oakland Cemetery in Star Prairie, WI.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Christ Lutheran Church or Grace Place.  Arrangements were with Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services of New Richmond.
