Alyce Lorraine Ramquist nee Roerig, age 77 of New Richmond, gently passed away after a grace filled life on Friday, January 21, 2011 at The Gathering at Boutwells Landing in Stillwater, Minnesota. Alyce was born the daughter of William and Elsa (Bliefernicht) Roerig on September 1, 1933 in Menomonie, WI. She was a 1951 graduate of Menomonie High School. On September 29, 1956, she married William Ramquist in Beloit, WI. They moved to New Richmond in 1959 and raised their four children here. Alyce worked for Holy Family Hospital as a nursing assistant for many years and then as a ward secretary. She also provided much needed home care for many people. Alyce was a member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church and supported many charitable activities in the community. She was a strong woman in so many ways; in her faith, as a wife, mother and grandmother, and through many hardships. Alyce was an unassuming person with a good sense of humor who adored her family and enjoyed caring for others. She is preceded in death by her parents, William and Elsa Roerig; brother, Howard Roerig; sister-in-law, Betty Roerig; and many friends. She is survived by her husband, William Ramquist; children, Mary (Dave) Holtz, Paul (Joan) Ramquist, David (Kim) Ramquist, and Ruth (Jeff) Gartner; grandchildren, Dan Holtz, Zachary Becker, Sarah (Matt) Person, Hannah, Lucy, and Tom Ramquist, Elizabeth and Crystal Ramquist, and Griffin and Greta Gartner; brothers, Bill (Norma) Roerig and Arnold (Gloria) Roerig; sister-in-law, Marilyn Roerig; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. A Memorial Service was held on Wednesday, January 26, 2011 at 11 am at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in New Richmond. Visitation was also on Wednesday from 10-11 am at the church. Interment was in New Richmond Cemetery. Arrangements are with Bakken-Young’s Beebe Mortuary of New Richmond.
