Emerson “Oop”, age 88 of New Richmond, passed away in his home on July 11, 2016.  Allen was born in Cylon, Wisconsin on February 28, 1928 and moved to New Richmond at one year old.  He grew up in New Richmond and graduated from New Richmond High School.  On July 17, 1948 Allen married Beatrice Albert, and they had 6 children.  They were married for 61 years.  Allen is survived by daughters, Vicki (Paul) Mayer of New Richmond, WI, Kim Emerson of Coon Rapids, MN; son, Bradley Emerson of New Richmond, WI; grandchildren, Lori, Jessica, Jennifer, Danielle, Michaela, Shelby, Joshua; and 10 great grandchildren.  Allen was preceded in death by his parents, Abner and Myrtle; wife, Beatrice; brothers, Gerald and William; sister, Joanne Peterson; infant son, Troy; son, Gregory; and daughter, Cynthia.  Allen, in his working days knew everyone in town.  He had a great love for the New Richmond community and he has shared so much history and stories about New Richmond.  Allen worked for Bernard’s for 46 years.  He gained success in sales earning the top level sales awards and gained the opportunity to travel.   He had many friends who admired his honesty and positivity.  He never forgot a name.  In his later years he enjoyed TV, especially sports.  He was an avid Packer fan, and enjoyed NASCAR among other racing.   He always seemed especially happy with any Wisconsin wins but also liked to see the underdog win.  We will miss his easy laugh and gentle nature.  He had a great love for his family and helped all of us with his sound advice and wisdom.  Allen will be greatly missed by all of us.  He was our gentle giant, our rock.  A Memorial Service was held Saturday, July16, 2016 at 11 am at Prairieview Covenant Church 1396 210th avenue,  New Richmond, WI.  Visitation was also Saturday from 10-11 am at the church.  Interment was in the New Richmond Cemetery.  Arrangements are with Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services Beebe Chapel of New Richmond.
