Allan Vehrs 04/11/2020

Allan Vehrs, age 79, of New Richmond died Saturday, April 11, 2020 at the St. Croix Health Center.  Allan was born on June 21, 1940 at McNamara Hospital in New Richmond. He was the youngest of three sons born to Fila (Phila) Ruth Bernd Vehrs and Roland August Vehrs; his siblings, Harlan (Mae) Vehrs and Roger Vehrs both of New Richmond. Allan grew up on a farm in Stanton Township in Saint Croix county, two miles northeast of New Richmond. He attended Prairie Views County Grade School northeast of New Richmond and graduated from New Richmond High School, class of 1958. After graduation, Allan continued to farm with his dad Roland, and worked together with Harlan, who owned his own farm. When dad’s health failed, Roger came home and helped farm with Allan. Allan went into beekeeping and worked together with his brother, Harlan and wife, Mae. Allan was a member of the Sioux Honey Association. He retired from farming in 2009. One of Allan’s hobbies was bowling, which he was in a bowling league for more than 20 years. Allan was baptized and confirmed at the Emmanuel Evangelical Church, which later merged with the Federation Church to become the United Methodist Church, of which, Allan was a member. He was also a member of the St. Croix County Beekeepers, Wisconsin Beekeepers and American Beekeepers associations for over 40 years. Allan is preceded in death by his parents, Phila (Fila) and Roland; and brother, Harlan (Mae). His survived by his brother, Roger; and many other relatives and friends. Memorial may be directed to the United Methodist Church – Memorial Fund. A Funeral service was held Thursday, July 9, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. at Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services (728 S. Knowles Avenue) in New Richmond with a visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment was in New Richmond Cemetery. Arrangements are with Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services.

    Al and I bowled together for many years at one time he had 8 years perfect attendance Rest in peace old friend

    I saw Allen making fence at Harlan’s.one summer day.
    He was very strong and was able to pull the barb wire tight without the aid of a stretcher.
    So long neighbor.
